Metanoia Schools follow a curriculum which complies with that of the South African Education Department. Because each child’s needs are different, the curriculum is differentiated and individualised for each child, Our focus is to present a child with curriculum work at his “right” level, in all learning areas. We achieve this with specifically written Literacy, Language and Numeracy modules that follows directly from the individualised educational therapy that a child receives within his school day.
Life Skills are presented as themes which permeate within a school day. This allows for practical experience as well time and opportunity to develop communication, social, independent and self-help skills. Metanoia Schools follow a music curriculum specifically written to meet the developmental and integrative needs of our children. Our Physical Education curriculum is written to include integrate movement as well as co-ordination and introduction to ball skills and sport. Our art curriculum includes creative arts as well as therapeutic work with different art mediums.
Children in the intermediate phase are introduced to the Social Sciences and Natural Science and Technology curriculum. A focus of this aspect of the curriculum is to develop general and practical knowledge of topics presented in the curriculum.
Our schools follow terms and daily times as outlined and prescribed by the Education Department.
